Charles Oputa popularly known as Charly Boy concretized his age long romance with Lady Diane as both formally exchange marital vows today in Abuja.
The nuptial took place at the chapel of the Sisters of Jesus the Redeemer, Catholic Church, in Gwarimpa Estate officiated by renowned Catholic clergy, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah.
The popular singer in 1974 got married to Stella at a Catholic Church in Onitsha and the union produced a child. In adherence to the Catholic strict marital doctrine which stipulates that couples who contracted a marriage on the church must petition the Catholic Pontiff for an annulment if they wish to opt out of the union.
Having observed the process and getting issues settled with his former wife, Mr Oputa , decided to walk down the aisle once again after 39years of being together. In his words, “This is not that kind of marriage with fanfare. I am doing it to please my aged mother. She has been pleading that we do the right thing.This is a woman I have been living with for 40years. We know each other well. This is about obedience to certain demands of the society.”
