Imo State Police Commissioner, Rabiu Ladodo, has directed full investigation into the suicide committed by a police sergeant, Paul Joseph, deployed to a bank in Ahiazu Mbaise Council.
The Guardian gathered that the late Joseph had reported for duty last Wednesday, but while inside the security room, a gunshot was heard by the staff resuming duty.Witnesses later saw the police officer on the floor in the pool of own blood, with his service rifle beside him.

The command suspected that the deceased might have been grappling with marital problems, which led him taking his life.Confirming the incident yesterday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Orlando Ikeokwu, told The Guardian that contrary to the rumour making the rounds that the officer was frustrated by the long-awaited promotion to the rank of inspector, he was suspected to be having marital issues.He added that investigation was going on, while the remains of the Taraba State-born officer had been deposited to the morgue.
Ikeokwu said: “It happened. Investigation is going on. We are suspecting that he had marital issues.”But after the incident, friends, associates and others began to say that he might have committed suicide out of frustration of alleged delay of the Police Service Commission (PSC) to effect his promotion to the rank of inspector.
