Senior Pastor of the Awaiting of The Second Coming Of Jesus Christ Ministry in Akure, Adewale Giwa has expressed displeasure at the ₦5bn Ore Flyover bridge project by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, saying it would have been better if the money was used to revamp, at least one abandoned company to create employment for the youths.
DAILY POST reported on Tuesday that Governor Akeredolu had invited President Muhammadu Buhari to commission a N5 billion flyover to mark the 3rd anniversary of his administration
In a statement to DAILY POST on Tuesday, Giwa faulted the Governor for putting such fund into construction of bridge instead of job creation for the youths of the State.
The statement added, “It would have been good to read on the pages of the National dailies that the governor was inviting President Buhari to commission, at least one industry.
“The rate of youth unemployment in the country is alarming, and this has promoted social vices like armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, drug peddling, child trafficking, insurgency, and general security challenges.
“America is blessed because of industrialization. Go to any state in the United States, there are 30 or more industries you can count that provide jobs for the people.

“We cannot always depend on the Federal Government when there are things that the governors can do to curb unemployment in their respective states.
“In Ondo State for instance, we have Olokola project, Cocoa Processing Company, Cassava Processing Company, Alfa 3D project, Tomato factory, among others. I am sure that the unemployment rate could have been reduced if these companies are functioning properly in the state.
“Ore Flyover is commendable, but this should not have come first when there are factories they can revive to create jobs in the state. Why do you think people rush to Lagos to live? The population of Lagos in 2019 was 13,904,000.
“Governor Akeredolu should do something spectacular to be remembered for just like late governors Michael Adekunle Ajasin and Adebayo Adefarati who served the state diligently. PA Ajasin took his precious time to establish different industries in the state.”
