Twitter announced that it has started testing the format called ‘Fleets’ which enables users to post content that disappears in 24 hours. Presently, the company is testing this feature in Brazil.
Unlike, the normal tweets, Fleets will not receive Replies, Likes to Retweets. Also, they will disappear after 24 hours.
This new feature is meant to address one of the primary reasons why users don’t tweet: they feel uncomfortable with Twitter’s public nature.
Fleets will not appear in the regular Twitter timeline of the users. A user has to visit the public Twitter profile and then tap on their Fleets to view it.
Moreover, users will also not be able to circulate the Fleets on the Twitter network, and they will also not show up in search or Moments. Also, users will not be able to embed them on an external website.

However, it seems that this new vanishing tweet feature of Twitter is not going down well with the users. Many users feel that this feature will make the micro blogging website similar to other social media platforms.
Here are the reactions of some users on the Fleets feature:
▪︎Edit Button
▪︎Deleting wrong messages in the DM
▪︎quoting messages when replying DMThese are features that will add value to Twittter, if the story feature is added, the four main social media apps automatically becomes the same, now what’s the joy?#RIPTwitter

Twitter adding 24hrs story function to it’s features at a time when all we need is an “edit tweet” option in order to minimize the frustration of deleting tweets over small errors. Rename this app to “Bomboclaat-Facebook” already #RIPTwitter

In a world where WhatsApp, Facebook & Instagram are hoping to be like Twitter, one would have hoped that Twitter will be secure in its authenticity but what’s this rumour about Twitter planning to rollout Stories? Who cares on Twitter? #RIPTwitter

The final step would be to add Filters like Snapchat and this app would become a digital garbage in our phones like BBM ???. #RIPTwitter

Twitteer should just add filters and bitmoji. Then we can know they mean business

We want edit button, not stories.
Anyone who wants stories can go to Instagram and Facebook #RIPTwitter pic.twitter.com/Nj1O1vwgHg— Fanny-ZN ?? (@fanny_miz) March 5, 2020
