Japan’s Emperor Naruhito marked the first anniversary of his enthronement on Friday with a prayer at palace shrines amid coronavirus pandemic.
The 60-year-old emperor, wearing a face mask, bowed to people along the street when a car carrying him entered the Imperial Palace.
It has been a year that Naruhito ascended the Chrysanthemum throne after his father.
Japan has 14,281 confirmed cases, with 432 deaths, according to the Health Ministry on Friday.
