In a recent interview, The national president of Arewa Youths Consultative Forum (AYCF), Alhaji Yerima Shettima asked Southeast indigenes of Nigeria to prepare for war if they continue rejecting the influx of Alamajiris into their states.
In his words:
“There will be war in Nigeria if Northern youths are denied from entering Southeast Nigeria. He said this in response to the many Almajiris who were accosted on their way into southeastern states despite the lockdown order and sent back to the North.

He also said “Nigeria is our country and we are entitled to freedom of movement, no Southeastern governor should deport Northerners even if they are coronavirus positive, instead they should be isolated and given good medical care.”
“There are many Igbos in the North and we are not chasing them away, but if every governor continues to turn back our brothers, then there will be another war in which Igbo people in Northern states would be sent back to their respective states. It will be a repeat of what happened in the Nigerian civil war of 1967.”
The Federal Government of Nigeria locked down Nigeria to curb the spread of the deadly Coronavirus but in recent times it has been seen that a lot of these Almajiri youths have been accosted on the borders of some states like Kogi State, Edo State, Rivers State, Cross River state and so on.
There has been no response from security officials and Nigerian Government concerning this matter and this would be one of the many occasions where Yerima Shettima has advocated for war between the South East and the Northerners.
