These past few days have seen Anambra State pastor, Prophet Chukwuemeka Odumeje immerse himself in a lot of controversies and societal limelight, for both good reasons and bad reasons.
To some, he creates a comic relief to his spectacularly unique way of preaching which endears a lot of people to him, while to some, he is a disgrace and ridicule to the term “Prophet”.
These facts are stemmed from the recent videos which are virally making rounds on the internet. These videos show Prophet Odumeje flinging up huge wads of money with reckless abandon while his church members and fans clamour for a note or two. He is usually accompanied by top politicians, actors, and socialites amongst whom are Zubby Michael, Cubana Chief Priest, and so on.

His videos have also been re-enacted all over the globe on social media platforms like TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook. The most popular one being the quote “I am not a preacher of love, I am a fighter, I am a war!”
But with a lot of fame comes criticism, especially for Pastor Odumeje whose fame rose like wildfire within a couple of months. A lot of people have come forward to openly declare him a cultist that gets his powers from diabolical means, even some traditionalists, amongst whom are Late Pericoma’s son ‘Omo Perry’ have openly dared him to a one on one spiritual battle.
Reports have it that Odumeje was challenged by Omor Perry after he made a statement on the people of Arondizuogu of Imo state.
On 6 May, a video had surfaced on social media where Odumeje could be heard saying Pericoma’s children are of no use to the society and also that the People of Arondizuogu are very poor over their involvement in fetish practices
According to reports, the people of Arondizuogu are not left out in the battle as they requested that the man of God apologizes over his embarrassing statement otherwise he will be cursed with the gods of the land.
Pericoma’s son, Omor Perry, however, insisted that the battleground for his challenge with Prophet Odumeje should be inside the church auditorium of the controversial Anambra prophet in other not to counter any claim after he defeats the “Fake Prophet” as he said.
Others such as the HURIWA, Human Rights Writers’ Association of Nigeria, and other popular pastors in Nigeria have called for his immediate arrest for flouting the rules of worship.
But in his usual comic manner, Prophet Odumeje has come up with a beautiful remix to the late Veteran Highlife Maestro, Victor Osadebe’s Osondi Owendi.
This remix throws huge body jabs to critics and dares them to do their worst if they don’t like his style of preaching.
