The World Health Organization, WHO, regional office for Africa in Brazzaville, Congo, says the number of coronavirus cases in Africa has risen to over 95,000 in the past 24 hours.
The UN health agency gave the update on its official Twitter account on Thursday.
According to the tweet, COVID-19 has killed 2,995 people in the continent, while 34,000 people have recovered from the virus.
“Over 95,000 confirmed #COVID19 cases on the African continent – with more than 34,000 recoveries & 2,995 deaths,” It said.
The WHO African Region COVID-19 dashboard showed that South Africa, Egypt, Algeria, and Morocco have continued to top the list of highest reported cases.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced that another 284 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the last 24 hours, bringing to 6,677 the number of confirmed cases in the country as of Wednesday night.
