Celebrating freedom, but not yet free in every sense of it.
A continent yet to recover from the exploitation, and imposition of the colonial masters. A continent stripped of their ways of life and its norms and values bastardized. A continent of people made to feel inferior and equated to apes by the Europeans and Americans.
A land blessed with rich cultural heritage, natural and Human Resources. The land flowing with milk and honey! The land of the melanated.
Instead of growing, dictators and power mongers abound in the continent, and are at the helm of affairs of every African state. They loot for generations yet unborn, and stash our common patrimony in European and American banks.
A land that should have been peaceful, but riddled with war, hunger, famine, disease and overall bad living condition.
A land where slaves where taken to go work sugarcane plantations, and bound in chains, squeezed like animals. Most made the journey to Europe, but majority died and were fed the fishes of the ocean.
Worst of it all is that a second scramble for Africa is going on, but most of us are oblivious of it. They won’t bind us in chains and take us away in slave ships this time, they are buying us from our leaders by making them heavily indebted to them so much that they can’t pay back, and then take us as collateral.
When is Mama Africa going to wake up from this slumber and take its rightful place in the history of humanity?
