It’s yet another 30th May!
A wound may heal, but the scars remain, and constantly reminds one of how and where the wound was sustained. In our own case, the wound will never heal, because it is permanent, which is a constant reminder of the war.
It was a genocide!
We fought for 3 good years for our survival!
Over 3 million killed, our mothers and young girls mercilessly raped, and children butchered.
They tried wiping the history of the war, so that the coming generation won’t know what happened, but we must continue to tell the tales of everything that happened.
The propaganda they used during the war is still potent today, as many of us see themselves as not part of us.
They effectively turned some of us to see themselves as the aggressors, even when we were the oppressed.
Everything that caused the war is still here today! Nothing has changed and nothing will ever change.
The declared No Victor, No Vanquished, but still call us their slaves.
They used the 3Rs to scam us (RECONCILIATION, REHABILITATION, and RECONSTRUCTION), as nowhere in the war torn Biafra that was reduced to rubbles was reconstructed, nobody was rehabilitated and no genuine reconciliation.

They are surprised we turned the 20 pounds they gave us irrespective of the millions we had in the bank prior to war, to fortunes and still compete with them today even at greater disadvantage.
To the younger generations who they have taught to hate themselves, and see themselves as the reason why over 3 million of their likes were massacred, think about Bruce Mayrock who never knew or met anyone of us, but self immolated just to drag the attention of the world to the Biafra Genocide.
To other Nigerians who supported the massacre of our people, compare the few weeks of the covid-19 pandemic and the hardship you all went through to the 3 long years of heavy artillery and aerial bombardments and see what we suffered and still rose again like Phoenix.
Tell me anyone who survived that kind of war that won’t be proud, as the only thing they accuse us of is pride.
To all the heroes of the war who showed rare courage and bravery, and all who died to protect our people, we will never forget your sacrifices!
It’s 50 years on, but we will never forget!
