The Shiites group argued that though they are a peaceful group who only pursue their religious rites, noted that they are facing huge harassment from the security operatives.
Speaking at a ceremony, as part of Ashura commemoration, held at the Juma’at mosque on Wednesday, the leader of the sect in Kano, Dr Sanusi Abdulkadir lamented how members of the movement are being arrested and allegedly killed for practicing their religious beliefs.
According to him, members of Shi’ah group are peace-loving and law-abiding, but they are facing harassments from the government when they practice their religion.
“We will continue with our Ashura procession no matter what. We will not be deterred by any forces because we believe we are doing it for Allah and his messenger,” he said.
