Biden stated this in his acceptance speech, which he delivered before a crowd of supporters in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, Saturday night.
“Our work begins with getting COVID-19 under control.
“We cannot repair the economy, restore our vitality, or relish life’s most precious moments: hugging a grandchild, our children, birthdays, weddings, graduations, all the moments that matter most to us, until we get it under control.
He further promised that he will name a group of leading scientists and experts as transition advisers to help take the Biden-Harris COVID-19 plan and convert it into an actual blueprint that will start on Jan. 20, 2021.
Biden explained that the plan will be built on the bedrock of science and will be constructed out of compassion, empathy and concern.
“I will spare no effort, none, or any commitment to turn around this pandemic,” he said.
It will be noted that about 238 thousand people have died due to coronavirus and close to 10 million Americans infected. Many are blaming the Incumbent President Trump for the deaths, saying he did not do enough to curb the infection. Trump has promised that the Coronavirus vaccine will be ready by year end and has also insisted that the virus is not as deadly as the media make it look, comparing COVID-19 to flu. This has been disputed by health experts.
In October, Joe Biden pledged that if elected president he will begin reaching out to state and local leaders during the transition to begin crafting a coronavirus relief bill that he could sign by the end of January.
He also said he will work with congress too. Saying “I’ll ask the new Congress to put a bill on my desk by the end of January with all the resources to see how both our public health and economic response can be seen through the end, what is needed,” he said.
