The Nigeria Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, has stated that major International Smartphone Industries would soon establish their Assembling plants in Nigeria, as part of an agreement reached to boost Local Content Development in Nigeria.
The Minister made this known during the training of 1000 youths on GSM Phone Repairs, Maintenance, Software and Hardware Specialization organised by the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board and the House of Representatives member representing Nasarawa Federal constituency, Nasiru Ali Ahmad.
Speaking further during the occasion, Timipre Sylva said that the training is an effort by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources to develop local content with youths taking the centre stage.

The minister added that Nigeria has the highest GSM market in the whole of Africa, noting that GSM is not luxury but an essential commodity, hence, the training.
On his part, Alhaji Nasiru Ali Ahmad the House Representatives Member from Nasarawa Federal constituency, Kano, said the training on GSM Phone Repairs and Software maintenance, was part of his contribution to ensuring that redundant youths are fully engaged economically.
He said that thousands of young people graduate from universities but have no employment, hence the need to train them on self-sustenance.
Nigeria’s unemployment rate has increased geometrically with many youths roaming the street in search of work.
Many who graduated from various institutions of higher learning are taking the part of skill acquisition to survive in Nigeria. The unemployment has been agreed by various stakeholders as a direct result of bad governance and corruption.
