The House of Representatives has resolved to investigate the killing of 5 persons in Oyo State allegedly by officers of the Nigeria Customs.
The green chamber has mandated its committee on customs to investigate the shootings.
The decision to investigate the incident followed a motion moved by Shina Peller from Oyo State.
Peller in his motion said the victims were killed in Iseyin, on Eid Fitri day when customs officers were chasing suspected smugglers.

The lawmaker who is from Iseyin condemned how men of the customs service conducted themselves.
‘Customs men, according to eyewitnesses were in pursuit of a sport utility vehicle (SUV) conveying bags of rice when they started shooting sporadically and in the process, five people were killed. It was a sad day as the people were celebrating the EID-El-FITRI in the Oja- Oba area of the ancient town, the names of the victims are Oluwatobi, Timothy, Wasiu, Abdulazeez Abdullahi and Umar Abu,’ he said.
He also condemned the conduct of the officers and raised questions over their training.
‘If these men had been properly cautioned and trained in the process of recruiting them, bearing in mind that they carry arms, these tragedies would have been avoided,’ he stated.
The committee was given 2weeks to investigate the incident.
