The Yobe State Commissioner of Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, on Tuesday, handed over the ministry’s affairs to the incoming Commissioner, Mohammed Lamin.
The handing over followed a minor reshuffle made by the State Governor, Mai Mala-Buni, in the state’s cabinet.
Lamin was moved to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Culture following the scrapping of the state’s Ministry of Land and Solid Minerals Development where he held sway.
Bego, a seasoned journalist and at a time spokesman for governors, Mamman Ali, Ibrahim Gaidam and Mai Mala-Buni has now been moved to the newly created Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation.

Speaking shortly before the handing over, Abdullahi Bego highlighted some of the achievements recorded by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Culture under his watch.
”The ministry, under the present administration, has undergone tremendous transformation. The ministry has now moved from an analogue baseline to the digital spaces of modern information and communication technology for the effective collection and dissemination of information, news and entertainment across the state and the country”, Bego said.
Bego expressed hope that the new commissioner would continue to develop the ministry at this challenging time being an experienced leader who had headed various ministries in the state including the information one.
Lamin, while taking over the affairs of the Information Ministry, commended his predecessor for performing up to the mark and assuring all that he is going to move the ministry to greater heights, calling on the staff in the ministry to give him the desired cooperation in this regard.
