Boko Haram No Longer Have Caliphates In Nigeria – LaiLai Mohammed

The Nigerian Government on Thursday refuted reports by a publication that terror group, Boko Haram was carving Caliphates in the country.

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who made the rebuttal said there was no Boko Haram Caliphates in the country.

He accused The Economist of lying over its recent claim of Jihadists in Nigeria, saying it was wrong for a publication to report that Jihadists are carving out Caliphates in the country.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja, the Minister said Boko Haram terrorists were surrendering in their numbers, contrary to a report by The Economist.

He said, ‘The Economist reported that the Jihadist threat in the North-east has ‘metastasized’, and everyone knows that this is totally inaccurate. Today, Boko Haram has no Caliphate anywhere in Nigeria.’

‘Again, at a time that Boko Haram and ISWAP are taking on each other in mutually-destructive lockstep, and at a time that the terrorists are surrendering in droves as a result of heavy pounding by the military, it is wrong to say that Jihadists are carving out a Caliphate in the North-East, as the Economist reported.’

The Economist had previously published a damning article that implicated the Nigerian Government and its corrupt practices.
