A spokesman to President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that his principal would end insurgency before the end of his tenure in 2023 contrary to popular speculations.
Femi Adesina maintained that the Buhari government would flush out those behind insurgency within the next 17 months remaining in the present administration.
He made this claim while speaking in an interview with Channels Television which was monitored by Africa Today News, New York.
The presidential spokesman recounted how the Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka was taken out after 28 years of rebellion.
According to Adesina: ‘Nothing is impossible. I always refer to the Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka’ he said.

He continued by saying that if it took Sri Lanka that long, then there is still hope for Nigeria, ‘That rebellion lasted for 28 years. But one day, the mastermind of that rebellion was taken out and that was the automatic ending of it.
‘Those who are behind this insurgency will be taken out. They are being taken out one after the other and it will get to a point that the last of them will be taken out, and then we’ll get to the end of it. It can be done within 17 months that remains for this administration.’
Africa Today News, New York recalls that uprooting insurgency in Nigeria was one of the cardinal reasons why Nigerians voted for President Buhari in 2015 against the then Goodluck Jonathan.
Many analysts believe that the Government of President Muhammadu Buhari has performed very poorly in that regard with banditry taking over most parts of Nigeria.
The Southeastern part of the country has also seen a surge in insurgency which began with the burning of police and military formations.
