The United Nations (UN) has confirmed the reappointment of Nigeria’s Amina Mohammed as Deputy Secretary-General.
The Secretary-Genera, António Guterres had on Tuesday morning announced that Mohammed will continue in the role during his second term.
Africa Today News, New York understands that the Nigerian heads development coordination at the world body undergoing reform.
Mohammed has worked for the actualization of UN calls on Member States for the adoption of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Guterres hailed his deputy’s leadership of the Sustainable Development Group, determination to reinforce results and maximization of the UN development system.
Before her designation in January 2017, Mohammed was Minister of Environment and Special Adviser to ex-Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Post-2015 Development Planning.
She served as Presidential Adviser on the Millennium Development Goals, advising on poverty alleviation, public sector reform and sustainable development.
She would now be embarking on a fresh tenure which is expected to last four years.
Meanwhile, Antonio Guterres has said that Niger and six other nations have lost their right to vote in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) because they have not paid their dues.
The other countries losing their UNGA voting rights are Iran, Libya, the Central African Republic, Congo Brazzaville, South Sudan, and Zimbabwe.
Three more countries – Comoros, Sao Tome, and Principe, and Somalia – will be allowed to continue to vote despite missing dues payments, because they sufficiently demonstrated that they are incapable of paying.
