2023 PDP Lambast Ayade Over Presidential Aspiration
Governor Benedict Ayade

The Cross River State chapter of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted Governor Benedict Ayade’s recent declaration to contest for President in the upcoming elections in 2023 lambasting the Governor while describing his dreams as a ‘big joke’.

Chairman of the party in the State, Venatius Ikem made the reaction in an interaction with newmen in Calabar on Friday.

Ikem submitted that the governor was desperate because he has failed in the State as Governor after failing to meet the needs of the people in the last 7 years as the leader of the State.

According to him, everybody in Nigeria and beyond knows Ayade as a professional joker and would not be taken seriously if he throws his hat into the ring.

Ikem said: ‘He is just grandstanding out of desperation for his doomed political future.

He went on to add that; ‘The entire country has come to know him as a jester. He knows nobody will ever entrust him with political power again. Not even his village people, most of whose land he has used his office to grab by force.’

Ikem sarcastically said they will rejoice if APC fields Ayade as their candidate against PDP, adding that they should actually be praying and fasting that they should.

The PDP boss claimed that Ayade has performed very poorly in the area of economy.

‘Most businesses relocated out of Calabar to neighbouring Akwa Ibom State because of the harshness of the operating environment, epitomized by multiple taxation and harassment,’ he said.

Africa Today News, New York had earlier reported that Ayade has disclosed that he has what it takes to fix Nigeria hence his interest in the 2023 race. The Presidential elections is scheduled to hold in February 2023.
