14 Die As Plane Crashes In The Comoros

Rescuers in the Comoros on Saturday evening struggled to find survivors from the wreckage of a plane carrying 14 people that which crashed somewhere around the Indian Ocean archipelago.

Africa Today News, New York reports that the airline AB Aviation had earlier raised alarm that its small Cessna plane had disappeared from the radar about 2.5 kilometres (1.6 miles) from its destination during a flight between the capital Moroni and the city of Fomboni on the island of Moheli on Friday.

In a statement which was sighted by Africa Today News, New York, the Comorian transport ministry explained that they were doing everything possible to recover the plane wreckage and the bodies of the passengers, they said; ‘Search operations… have begun to find the aircraft’s debris in the coastal area of Djoiezi confirming the crash,’

The Comorian government has also reacted revealing that the 12 passengers were Comorian and that the two pilots were Tanzanian.

Meanwhile, man citizens of the East African country took to social media on Saturday to lament the crash with many calling on the Government to put in measures to forestall further future occurrences.

The cause of the crash is yet to be ascertained, however, Africa Today News, New York can confirm that investigations has commenced even as rescue operations is still ongoing.

The authorities in the country has also revealed that fishing boats and at least one speedboat were being rapidly deployed towards the position where the plane’s signal was lost as a way of helping in the rescue operations.

Support is being offered to the affected families on Moheli and Moroni’s island of Grande Comore.

The aircraft crashed on Saturday. Meanwhile, parts of the aircraft have been found, Sputnik reported citing local authorities as saying.
