After a ten-month knee injury, Van Dijk has called Liverpool’s quadruple hunt an “impossible dream.”
This debate has lingered since the Premier League Champions, Manchester City, were defeated 3-2 by Liverpool at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday in the FA Cup Semi-Finals.

Although both teams are strong, Liverpool has proven its tenacity to make more wins for every match played.
In a post-match interview, he said, “All this talk about quadruple or treble is from the outside world and could put extra pressure on us.”
“Nobody did the quadruple. There is a reason for it, because it is almost impossible to do.”
“It’s something that everyone would dream about, to win every competition you participate in, but we will see what it brings.”
In the last two matches between Man City and Liverpool, both teams have always finished in a tie. A draw, sympathetically. But, the victory in Wembley rewrote the narrative, adding to their club profile.
Here, Van Dijk re-emphasized their victory on his team’s fitness and spirit. stating that he wants to win more games, stay fit, and prepare for the World Cup.
“I was not a great player back in the days. I was quite a late bloomer. That’s why I enjoy my career even more,” he stated. “I just want to keep it going, stay fit, win games, and see what it brings, and get ready for the World Cup as well.”
Although Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s club manager, has not entertained the quadruple hunt question, other players like Sadio Mane and Allison Becker have commented on it as a “dream.”
In an interview with BBC Sports, Mane said: “To win this kind of game, especially in a semi-final, is a big, big, big win. We were very pleased to win and qualify for the final. We have a lot of games to go and we will try to do our best-it’s our dream for sure and we will fight for it.”
Meanwhile, Alisson Becker told beIN Sports that they don’t have much time to discuss the quadruple hunt.
“We are always just focused on the next game and the next challenge. We dream about it, but we dream with our feet on the ground, being humble. We need to keep on going,” he added.
However, the FA Cup final with Chelsea in May and the Champions League semi-final with Villareal may prove this point.
