The immediate past Governor Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, has reacted to reports that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has chosen him as his running mate ahead of next year’s elections.
Africa Today News, New York reports that it was widely speculated on Thursday that Atiku had settled for Ihedioha as his running mate.
Africa Today News, New York had reported that Atiku emerged as PDP’s presidential candidate after polling the highest votes during the party’s convention in Abuja.
Atiku defeated the likes of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Anyim Pius Anyim to emerge as the party’s flag bearer.

Although the former Vice President is yet to officially name his running mate for the 2023 elections, several reports had claimed that Ihedioha is the chosen one.
In his reaction, Ihedioha said he was unaware of such political moves.
‘Honestly, I am not aware of any action in that direction,’ he told reporters.
Similarly, Atiku has always also described the report of him picking Ihedioha as running mate as false.
In a statement made available to newsmen, his spokesman, Paul Ibe, told disclosed that his principal had not chosen Ihedioha or any other person as his running mate.
‘When we decide to speak on the issue of running mate, it will not be a subject of speculation, we will roll it out. It is not going to be something that will be speculated on social media, online platforms or Whatsapp groups.
‘So from my own stable, I cannot confirm that to be true. These are the times for all manner of speculations. People should endeavour to wait for the official announcement. But this speculation is unknown to me.’
According to him, the former Vice President would announce his running mate when the time is right.
