Rauf Aregbesola who is the former Governor of Osun State and the Nigerian minister of Interior has surprisingly gloated over the electoral loss of Osun State APC party to the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Ademola Adeleke.
In a post which he had put out on Facebook on Sunday, Aregbesola had also justified the victory of Ademola Adeleke, over incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola, by uploading a Biblical verse.
He wrote: “This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.” – (Daniel 4:17).

The post was made at about 8a.m, just moments after the Independent National Electoral Commission confirmed Adeleke as the winner and governor-elect.
It is no secret that Rauf Aregbesola and Governor Oyetola and the national leader and Presidential Candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu have had some frosty relationship in Osun State of recent times.
The minister had even sponsored Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, a former government secretary to compete against Oyetola in the party’s direct primary. After Oyetola’s victory, Adeoti dragged Oyetola to court, seeking an order to disqualify him for not resigning early enough from the party’s national caretaker committee.
The case was thrown out by the court on Thursday. Then Aregbesola left the country to the United States, making himself unavailable for the election in his state.
It had also been reported that the Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola lost the Government House, Osogbo polling unit to Senator Ademola Adeleke, his closest rival of the opposition party, PDP in the election which was held Saturday.
While Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had polled 117 votes at Agowande/ Oshogbo GRA/ Governor’s office polling unit, Governor Oyetola, who had run on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had trailed behind him with close to 106 votes.

However, Oyetola did not vote there.

In another report, Fasiu Adeyinka who is the Acting Commander-General (ACG), the Zonal Coordinator, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for Osun, Ondo and Ekiti, has openly lauded the electorates for a peaceful conduct of elections at the ongoing Osun State gubernatorial election.
