The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has accused former vice president and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, of telling lies against him vowing to tell Nigerians the truth.
Wike, who made the charge in a speech upon his arrival at the Port Harcourt International Airport yesterday also charged Atiku with using some prominent members of the main opposition party to promote blatant lies about him.
The governor promised that he will answer in due course to both the PDP presidential candidate and the party leaders, whom he referred to as Atiku’s ‘attack dogs,’ one by one and line by line.
He contradicted remarks attributed to the former vice president made on the day Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State, was introduced as his running partner in Abuja.

Wike said: ‘I had decided to be quiet because PDP is a party I love so much. I have moved on to conclude my social contract with the people of Rivers. However, it is time to let Nigerians know the truth.’
The governor stated that posterity would not forgive him should he fail to set the records straight and promised to clear the air after the commissioning of the projects lined up for inauguration by the state government.
On the reconciliation committee set up by the PDP leadership, Wike stated that Atiku Abubakar had yet to send any delegation to him.
Meanwhile, the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who is the Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has given assurances that the party will go into next year’s general elections as a united family.
Dr. Okowa gave this hint while speaking yesterday at Benue State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, while speaking with reporters after a closed-door meeting with Governor Samuel Ortom.
He asserted that the reconciliation process initiated by leaders of the party to resolve all issues that emanated from the presidential primaries and his subsequent emergence as the vice presidential candidate was on, stressing that in the end, “all issues would be resolved.
