Night Clubbing, Okada Operations Banned In Ondo State By Govt

The State has been thrown a state of confusion as the Ondo State Government has openly issued a restricting order on all nightclub activities in the 18 local government areas of the state as well as the operations of commercial motorcycle riders throughout the state.

The government had also disclosed that there will be a serious crackdown which would be placed on all unregistered vehicles and vehicles without a tinting permit on them.

According to the order  by the Government, the motorcycle operations outside of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. and the other nightclub activities after 12 a.m. will no longer be permitted in the state.

Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the Special Adviser on Security Matters to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and Commander of Amotekun Corps, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

Adeleye maintained that the order will be strictly enforced by security agents in the state.

“Law enforcement agencies are to resume enforcement on the Ban on Motorcycle Operations outside 6am-6pm, Night Club activities beyond 12 midnight, use of vehicles with tinted glasses without permit, unregistered vehicles, use of sticker number plates in lieu of car dealership approved stickers.

“Accordingly, all Security Agencies are hereby enjoined to impound all such motorcycles and vehicles while the owners or riders would be prosecuted.”

In another report, some yet-to-be-identified gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Sunday abducted no fewer than 32 travellers around Ifon in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The victims were reportedly returning from a burial ceremony in Edo State yesterday when the incident happened.

It is not yet established whether the kidnappers have reached out to the families of the victims for payment of ransom to secure their release.

The Public Relations Officer of Ondo Police SP Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed the abduction to Channels Television in a telephone chat.
