Former Super Eagles midfielder and national team Coach, Sunday Oliseh, has submitted that he is very willing to lead the team again, however, this can only happen when the ‘conditions are right’.
Africa Today News, New York recalls that Oliseh who was appointed the head coach of the Super Eagles in 2015 only lasted eight months on the job.
At that time, the 48-year-old voluntarily resigned from the post citing contract violations, lack of support, unpaid wages, and benefits to his players for his action.
The 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner then had coaching stints at Dutch club, Fortuna Sittard and German lower league side, SV 19 Straelen.
‘My priority is to get Nigeria back to the top,” Oliseh told Channels TV in an interview on Monday.
“I will do it (handle the Super Eagles) if the person employing have the interest of Nigeria at heart.’”
Oliseh was recently appointed as a member of the technical study group for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
He represented Nigeria 54 times and scored two goals.
In a related development, the Nigerian national football side dropped one place in the latest FIFA men’s rankings for the month of September after a rather disappointing loss to Algeria.
The Super Eagles side, who were ranked 30th in the world in the ranking released in August, dropped six points to take the 31st position.
Africa Today News, New York reports that the Eagles’ drop in the rankings was largely due to their 2-1 away defeat to Algeria in their international friendly played in the month under review.
Jose Peseiro’s men were conquered by the Desert Foxes in a friendly game at the Miloud Hadefi Olympic Complex, Oran, in September in what was their only game in the month.
However, the former African champions are still ranked 4th team in Africa, with Senegal also retaining their number one spot on the continent and 18th in the world. They are followed by second-place Morocco, who also moved one place in the world to 22nd.
