Ahead of Nigeria’s next year’s Presidential and General elections, the Nigeria Elections Debate Group (NEDG) has concluded plans to hold a debate where the candidates would be interrogated on Economic Growth, Sustainability, Fiscal Policy, Monetary Policy, Diversification, Deregulation Digital Economy as well as Digital Transformation Imperatives.
The Executive Secretary, NEDG, Dr Eddie Emessiri made this known while addressing Journalists yesterday in Abuja,
The Secretary pointed out that the initiative is geared towards ensuring that Nigerians are better informed on the economic and political policies of the presidential candidates and take informed decisions as they go to polls in February 2023.

Emessiri said, ‘It is against the preceding that the participants of the Presidential debate are expected to share their insights on how Nigeria can sustainably grow its economy while addressing core issues in the following areas: Macroeconomic environment and indicators.
The NEDG Executive Secretary who revealed that the results of the opinion poll would be made known early next month and the debate to kick start almost immediately said that the debate would be taken closer to the people beginning from Abuja and subsequently to Port Harcourt, Lagos, and Kano, adding that the debates would be broadcast by all Federal government and state government-owned Radio and Television stations.
According to him, each debate would last for a duration of 135 minutes and it is scheduled to hold 15th of next month in Abuja.
Africa Today News, New York had earlier reported that a Bloomberg opinion poll has favoured Mr. Peter Obi who is the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) to win the 2023 presidential election.
This is coming barely a fortnight after the ANAP/NOI and We2geda poll result released recently which put Obi at 21% and 51% respectively ahead of other competitors.
The results of the survey which were conducted by Premise Data Corp. on behalf of Bloomberg News were published yesterday as the campaign officially kicked off, showed Obi scored 72% among those who have decided to vote.
Out of those surveyed, 92% of participants said they had decided how to vote and 72% named Obi as their first choice and of those who are still unsure, 45% said the 61-year-old former governor of Anambra State is their preferred candidate.
