One of the ex-presidential aspirants of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, who is also a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adamu Garba, has come out to make some claims that Arabic is Nigeria’s official language and should be retained in the new Naira note.
Adamu had also made the claims while he had been openly voicing his support for the fresh redesigning of the Naira note while reiterating that it is actually long overdue.

It can also be recalled that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele had made the announcement that the new Naira notes with the new designs would be launched in December this year.
Taking to his Twitter, Adamu suggested that the CBN should retain the two official languages of English and Arabic, while he would also be effecting the change in the Naira notes.
He wrote: “Redesigning the Naira is long overdue. One of the giant strides of CBN Gov. Godwin Emefiele. However, wide-ranging consultation & rapid awareness needs to be created.
“For trust’s sake, the two official languages of English & Arabic need to remain, in addition to the local ones”.
In another report, a northern group under the agesis of the Concerned Northern Forum have on Thursday, in Kaduna State, frowned at the recent directive which had been made by the Central Bank Governor, to redesign some of the naira notes effective from December 15, 2022.
Africa Today News, New York recalls that CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, made the announcement on Wednesday.
The group’s spokesman, Abdulsalam Kazeem had in a statement on Wednesday, in Kaduna, faulted the decision.
He also added that redesigning of the said naira notes will only cost the nation huge sums of money at the expense of taxpayers.
