A group led by the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara which is made up of mainly All Progressives Congress (APC) members of northern extraction has announced the adoption of the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, for the 2023 general election.
Africa Today News, New York reports that the group which is under the umbrella of the Northern Leaders’ Consultative Forum made up of Christians and Muslims adopted the PDP candidate after the report of its technical committee was presented to its members at a public forum held in Abuja. on Friday.
The report was signed by the Chairman of the Northern Leaders Technical Criteria Committee, Hon. Mohammed Kumaila and Secretary, Nunghe Kele,(SAN), was presented by the former deputy governor of Kogi State, Simon Achuba.

‘After a careful evaluation of all the issues highlighted above, we hereby recommend the adoption of the PDP, to all lovers of democracy in Nigeria, for the 2023 presidential election,’ part of the report read.
‘However, this should be subject to getting the necessary assurance from the party to run an all-inclusive government, details of which shall be discussed with the leadership of the party in the nearest future.’
Africa Today News, New York recall that this is coming less than two weeks after a group coordinated by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Babachir Lawal, has announced that it had adopted the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, as its preferred candidate ahead of the 2023 general elections.
In a statement that was made available to Africa Today News, New York, Lawal pointed out that the group comprising some northern Christian politicians settled for Obi following a painstaking review and analysis of the alternative presidential ticket holders.
Besides choosing Obi and his running mate, Mr. Ahmed Datti as their preferred choices, the group recommended LP candidates to Nigerians, saying they would ensure justice, equity, fairness, and unity in the country.
