Ahead of next year’s general elections, the Presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday assured Nigerians that he will be fair and just to all if elected as President Buhari’s successor.
Tinubu gave the promise during a town hall meeting with North-West Muslim leaders in Kano.
Tinubu pledged to be fair, just, and consistent with the tenets of Islamic faith.
‘A leader in a plural society like ours is enjoined to be a leader of all. If elected, I shall govern honestly and democratically, in harmony with our nation’s constitution.

‘I have tried to be a faithful and dutiful servant. I have tried to improve the lot of all our people, whether Christians or Muslims.
‘I thank Almighty Allah for the opportunity to meet you all on this great occasion. I am humbled by your attendance and the warmth of your reception.
‘I pray He continues to give you the wisdom and rectitude to fulfill this great and vital duty. Without your guidance and counsel, the nation cannot attain the place Allah has set for us,’ NAB quoted him as saying.
Tinubu said that his visions were collaboration, continuity and consistency for the development of Nigeria.
He promised to revive the economy and fight corruption and insecurity through provision of modern equipment for security agencies.
In a related development, the Spokesperson of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo has asserted that the endorsement of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, won’t affect his principal who he believes is Nigeria’s next President.
Africa Today News, New York recalls that Obasanjo had on Sunday formally endorsed Obi for the February 25 election, saying that the former Anambra State Governor has an edge over other candidates. But Keyamo has waved off the development, maintaining that Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won’t be impacted.
According to the APC PCC spokesperson, Obasanjo’s action proves that as Atiku’s former boss, he does not think that the PDP candidate deserves to be President this time around.
He tweeted on Sunday: ‘Quite within OBJ’s right to endorse anyone, but bad for PDP in 2 ways: (1.) Atiku’s former boss does not think he deserves to be President this time around (2) The little support OBJ gave PDP in 2019 & they failed, he has taken that away to LP. No effect at all on @officialABAT.’
In his 2023 New Year message personally signed by the ex-President and made available to Channels Television by his spokesman, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo described Obi as his mentee and said the former Anambra State Governor has an edge in the February 25, 2023 election.
