Some hoodlums together with some underage Almajiris’ in Katsina State metropolis on Thursday took to the street throwing stones immediately after President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned the newly constructed underpass bridge along Kofar Kaura Road.
According to a witness who spoke to reporters, the hoodlums were also observed throwing stones at the project site while yelling in Hausa, ‘We are not interested.’
Security agents worked with vigilantes to eventually calm the commotion, which had lasted more than 30 minutes.
To quell the situation, teargas was used; however, while covering the president’s actions, some journalists are said to have inhaled the teargas smoke.

Reacting to the development, SP Gambo Isah, spokesperson, Katsina Police Command said there was no protest at all neither was Mr. President booed as reported by some media houses.
However, he said police operatives arrested some hoodlums creating unrest around Sabuwar Unguwa, a notorious area, for Indian hemp and drug dealers in the state.
President Buhari is on a two-day visit to his home state to commission some projects executed by the state government.
Meanwhile, the presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has again accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of sabotaging the fuel supply in the country to blackmail the federal government.
Africa Today News, New York reports that Tinubu had while speaking during the APC presidential campaign held at the MKO Abiola stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State on Wednesday said the lingering fuel crisis and naira redesign by the Central Bank of Nigeria as part of the plot to scuttle the poll and his expected victory.
However, the Atiku/Okowa Campaign Organization said Tinubu was lamenting over Naira redesign because the policy has frustrated his plots to use slush funds for vote buying and manipulative schemes.
