The Government of Kano State has imposed a dawn-to-dusk curfew with a view to avoiding a possible breakdown of law and order, following tensions generated from the collation of results of the governorship and state Assembly elections.
The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs in Kano state, Muhammad Garba, made the announcement in a statement issued Monday morning.
He said the decision was to prevent hoodlums from to causing chaos in the already-made situation tense.
The commissioner called on people in the state to remain indoors as security agents would not spare anyone or a group bent on causing trouble.

In another report, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani has been announced as the Governor-elect of Kaduna State in a very controversial election.
Professor Lawal Suleiman Bilbis who is INEC’s Returning Officer for Kaduna State made the announcement on Monday night.
He said Sani polled 730,002 votes to defeat his closest rival, Isa Ashiru of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 719,196 votes.
The Labour Party (LP) candidate, Jonathan Asake polled 58,283 votes while the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate, Suleiman Hunkuyi scored 21,405 votes.
Also, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia who is a suspended Roman Catholic priest and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Benue State, has been declared the winner of the Saturday governorship election.
Africa Today News, New York reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), through Returning Officer, Prof Faruq Kuta, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, made the announcement on Monday in Makurdi, the state capital.
Alia defeated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Titus Uba, and Herman Lorwase Hembe of the Labour Party in a tough battle.
