The outgoing Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom on Friday disclosed that he would be going back to the farm after losing his senatorial bid.
Ortom, made this disclosure while speaking on an on Arise TV interview which was monitored by Africa Today, maintained that ‘market was not good’ during his outing to claim a seat at the Red Chambers of the National Assembly.
Recall that the Benue governor’s senatorial aspiration was dashed after his defeat on Feb. 25 when he lost to his former aide, Titus Zam.
When asked how the market was after losing the senatorial election, Ortom responded, “The market [senatorial bid] for me is not good.

‘This time around, the market isn’t good, but I will be here [as Benue governor] till May 29, when I will hand over by the grace of God.
‘I will find something else to do. I may go back to my farm as far as I’m concerned.’
In a related development, the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari while reflecting on the outcome of the just-concluded general elections went philosophical while also subtly mocking Governors who couldn’t win their senatorial elections.
The President who indirectly mocked a number of governors serving out their final terms, preparatory to upgrade to the Senate in the next dispensation, said the 2023 elections proved that there was no more easy route to power.
He went on to describe the Nigerian polity and democracy as growing and getting more sophisticated because Nigerian voters now realize that they have a say when it comes to the choice of their leaders.
Buhari bared his mind while playing host to the newly-installed Emir of Dutse, Jigawa State Capital, Alhaji Muhammad Hamim Nuhu Sunusi at the State House in Abuja.
