Nigeria’s President-Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been named in the Time Magazine’s list of 100 most influential people for 2023, Africa Today News, New York reports.
Time Magazine’s yearly list of the 100 most influential people in the world recognises people for changing the world, regardless of the consequences of their actions.
The 2023 list which was released on Thursday categorised individuals into pioneers, leaders, titans, artists, innovators, and icons.
Tinubu, who won the February 25 presidential election in Nigeria, was listed alongside United States President, Joe Biden; Brazil President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva; First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska; amongst other world leaders.

The report described Tinubu, who would be inaugurated on May 29 as ‘a longtime political power broker’.
The report also admitted that Tinubu seems aware of his inheritance which include ‘a litany of crises in a fractured nation, including deep-rooted corruption, religious insurgencies, and shortages of cash, fuel, and power in a crumbling economy’.
Meanwhile, a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State and the first elected female Deputy Governor in Nigeria, Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu has said that she will renounce her citizenship of Nigeria once Bola Tinubu is sworn in as President.
She also said that she has already told her lawyers to start working on that ahead of the 29th of May, stressing that Nigeria is in a deplorable state and doesn’t need a President with baggage to start managing its affairs at this critical time.
Ojikutu who spoke during a press conference with journalists in her Ikoyi residence on Wednesday, also told journalists that her safety is no longer guaranteed and that if anything happens to her, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the President-elect should be held responsible.
