Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has debunked rumours that his health was failing after he returned to the country following a month of absence.
Africa Today News, New York recalls that the former Lagos governor had in March jetted out of the country to France at night shortly after the elections, there have been rumours that he was rushed abroad for medical attention.
Despite the fact that his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has come out repeatedly to clarify that the president-elect only traveled to have some rest and recuperate from the election stress, some stakeholders have questioned his state of health and whereabouts.
Speaking with some party supporters shortly after arriving Abuja on Monday, Tinubu said that he has rested well and refreshed, stressing that he was prepared for the task ahead.

Speaking to the tumultuous crowd who followed him home, the President-elect said: “I’m happy to be back. I have rested, I’m refreshed and I’m ready for the task ahead.
‘Forget about what the rumour mill may have told you. I’m strong, very strong.’
Tinubu had scored the highest votes in the February 25 poll and was declared the President-Elect by the electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), though his victory is currently being vigorously challenged at the tribunal by two top contestants — Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
On March 22, after controversy surrounded his whereabouts, Tinubu’s spokesman, Tunde Rahman said his principal travelled to Paris in France to rest and observe the lesser hajj but no photo of the President-Elect was made public while he was away.
Africa Today News, New York reports that Tinubu’s health has been a subject of controversy in the last two years. In 2021, Tinubu was away in the United Kingdom for over three months where he underwent surgery and therapy for a knee injury. He subsequently travelled to the UK and Paris a few times in 2022.
