The spokesperson for the Vice President, Laolu Akande, has asserted that the reason Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo contested in the last presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) last year was in the interest of the people.
He went on to add that people see him as a representation of a new Nigeria and were very ready to vote for him.
Osinbajo, a former Attorney General of Lagos, was one of those who contested the APC presidential primary won by the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.
Akande, while speaking in an interview with Channels Television which was monitored by Africa Today News, New York, said the VP contested for the seat because he has the required qualities for the office of the president.
He said, ‘What is important is that you take the step you want to take in the best interest of the people. Public interest is the overriding factor.’
