Ahead of the 29th of May inauguration, the official transition portraits of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, and the Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima have been released.
Africa Today News, New York reports that the portraits were approved by the Presidential Transition Council.
The Director of Media and Publicity of Tinubu’s campaign organisation, Bayo Onanuga, wrote on Twitter: ‘Pre-inauguration official photographs approved by the Presidential Transition Council for President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President elect Senator Kashim Shettima.’
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had declared Tinubu the winner of the 2023 presidential election.
Running on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Tinubu defeated Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi.
Atiku and Obi are contesting Tinubu’s victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) Amid tight security, commenced sitting last Monday with a strong warning to all parties to avoid delay tactics and technicalities that could derail the speedy dispensation of the five petitions before it.
Chairman of the five-member tribunal, Justice Haruna Tsamani, offered the warning in his inaugural speech to officially kickstart the pre-hearing session on Monday.
Africa Today News, New York understands that the tribunal has 180 day to conclude its assignment.
Other members of the panel are Justice Stephen Adah, Justice Monsurat O. Bolaji Yusuf, Boloukuromo Moses Ugo, and Justice Abba Mohammed.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 8,794,726 votes to win the election. Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came second with 6,984,520 votes while Peter Obi polled 6,101,533 votes. Not satisfied with the outcome, Atiku and Obi had approached the tribunal to annul Tinubu’s victory.
