Team Nigeria increased its medal haul to 12 yesterday as silver Olympic medallist Blessing Oborududu went on to become a 12-time African champion at the ongoing African Wrestling Championship in Tunisia, Africa Today News, New York reports.
As they amassed 6 gold and 4 silver medals on day three of the competition, Blessing Oborududu, and Mercy Genesis each won a gold medal in the 50 kg division.
Adegoke Jumoke contributed to the gold list for team Nigeria in the 55kg division as Christianah Ogunsanya of Nigeria defeated Nogona Bakayoko of Cote d’Ivoire 11-0.
Similarly, in the 57kg finals Hammami Faten of Tunisia lost to Adekuoroye Mercy of Nigeria 11-0 coupled with Biogos Ebi 5-0 victory over Egyptian Vadran Menatalia in the 72kg.

Meanwhile, in the 59kg finals Patience Opuene of Nigeria lost 3-8 to Bousseta Siwar of Tunisia to end up with a silver medal while Kolawale Esther settles for silver medal after falling 7-1 to Marwa Amri of Tunisia in the 62kg
In addition, Hannah Reuben added more silver to team Nigeria on the day after losing 2-4 to Hamza Samir of Egypt in the 76kg finals, Ebipatei Moghenbofa made it four silver for team Nigeria in the 65k .
With the victory Nigeria retained its team title in female wrestling becoming 12-time African female wrestling champions
On the whole, as at the end of Day-3, Team Nigeria has recorded 8 Gold and 4 Silver in the Championships so far.
