Nigeria’s Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs yesterday announced 339 prominent Nigerians as recipients of the 2023 national honours.
Some entertainers were included in the list. They are famous singer, David Adeleke, aka Davido, and ace-filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan, who were both awarded the Officer Of The Order of The Niger (OON).
Super Eagles and Napoli Striker, Victor Osimhen also made the list. The Serie A top scorer received the MFR (Member of The Order of Federal Republic) cadre.
Benue-born socialite, Terry Waya was conferred with the OFR (Order of the Federal Republic) cadre.

Africa Today News, New York recalls that last year, President Muhammadu Buhari conferred national honours on entertainers, 2Baba, Burna Boy, and Teni.
Recall that President Buhari had last week conferred Nigeria’s highest national honour, GCFR) on President-elect Bola Tinubu. The second highest national honour, GCON, was also conferred on Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima.
The award ceremony which was held at the Banquet Hall, State House Conference Centre, Abuja.

The president-elect said that based on the details provided by the Chairman of the transition council, Boss Mustafa, the “documents clearly enumerated the efforts of the past eight years.”
He told Mr Buhari that no one can deny his contributions to Nigeria’s national development.
The president-elect also expressed his delight at taking over, saying “I am full of pride to say that this moment is our moment.”
