The President of the United States, Joe Biden took on Thursday a face-first tumble after tripping over an obstacle on stage at the Air Force Academy in Colorado, but he appeared unhurt.
Africa Today News, New York reports that the 80-year-old, Biden, who had delivered the opening address to graduates of the military academy, had just shaken hands with a cadet and begun walking back to his seat when he fell.
From footages obtained, Air Force personnel helped him back up and he did not appear to require further help.
As he rose, Biden pointed to the object that had apparently caught his foot. It resembled a small black sandbag on the stage.

Meanwhile, the US Senate has voted to approve a bipartisan deal that would increase the country’s debt ceiling, clearing the bill’s last major hurdle before it reaches the desk of President Biden.
With Biden expected to sign the newly passed bill, Thursday’s decision is set to avert economic catastrophe, with only days remaining before the US was due to default on its debt on June 5.
Senators voted 63 to 36 in favour of the legislation, which was thrashed out in often late-night negotiations between teams representing the Democratic Biden and Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy – two figures often at odds – last weekend.
It was passed by the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
Biden welcomed the bill’s approval as a “big win” for the country and the economy.
