Nigerian Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has declared that he would be excited if he ever wins a Grammy.
He, however, maintained that he didn’t release his latest album, ‘Timeless’ with the intention of winning awards.
Davido made this in a recent interview with Brut which was monitored by Africa Today News, New York.
The ‘Dami Duro’ crooner said he is a digital artiste, but for his collaboration with The Cavemen and Grammy-award winning Beninese legend, Angélique Kidjo ‘Na Money’, he had to do a live record.
He said, ‘I was happy that I was out of my space and able to deliver that song [‘Na Money’]. Because I’m a digital artist; I record music digitally.
‘But for that song [‘Na Money’], we had to record it live because The Cavemen record live.’

He continued, ‘If I win a Grammy, I will be happy, but I didn’t make this album [‘Timeless’] because I wanted to win anything.
‘I made this album going into it, you know, happy, natural, you know what I’m saying!’
In another report, Nigerian singer, Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe, popularly known by his stage name, Wande Coal, has claimed that he and his former producer and record label boss, Don Jazzy, were the ones who created ‘the syllabus of music’ in the country.
He said a lot of people read through what he and Don Jazzy did and took from it and created their own sounds.
The ‘Bumper 2 Bumper’ crooner made the claim during a recent interview with Cool FM, Lagos.
He, however, said there was nothing wrong with the youngsters copying what he and Don Jazzy did.
Africa Today News, New York recalls that Wande Coal and Don Jazzy had over a decade ago worked together at the defunct Mo’hits Record and Mavin before parting ways in 2013.
