Sen. Iyiola Omisore, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), reassured Nigerians that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State who is recuperating would soon rejoin the state and continue to address the developmental requirements of its populace.
Omisore, who spearheaded a visit by national leaders to the state as a show of solidarity, ameliorating concerns regarding the governor’s health.
He gave his assurance to the government and people of the state, urging them not to be alarmed but to offer prayers for the governor’s well-being and a period of adequate rest.
Omisore convened meeting with prominent individuals, including the Acting Governor, Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa, the State Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, members of the State Working Committee, the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, the Chief of Staff, Chief Gbenga Ale, Members of the House of Assembly, Commissioners, and various other top government officials.
Omisore mentioned that the National Secretariat expressed deep regret over the unexpected change in the recent wish and prayer offered by the National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, for the governor.
The national secretary insisted that there was no instance where the National Chairman mentioned the governor being incapacitated.
Omisore lamented that some factions of the press intentionally chose to be mischievous and reported in a manner that served their own interests, rather than providing accurate and balanced news.
He explained that the purpose of the visit was to dispel any misunderstanding regarding the sincere and honourable statement and to rectify any misrepresentation of the facts.

‘Mr. Chairman only urged people to pray for the quick recovery of your governor; not on account of being incapacitated.’
‘Our visit, therefore, is to reinforce the position of the national secretariat that we only prayed for the quick recovery of Arakunrin Akeredolu SAN, and not otherwise,’ Omisore pointed out.
Adetimehin insisted that the party’s unity, under the guidance of Arakunrin Akeredolu, remains intact and unshakable.
Providing further clarification, he highlighted the State’s proud achievements in ensuring the party’s success during the previous presidential election and firmly stated that disagreements have no place within their ranks.
Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa, the Acting Governor, warmly expressed appreciation to the visiting team for making the effort to visit and show solidarity.
Ayedatiwa bemoaned the unprofessionalism exhibited by some members of the press, stressing their tendency to twist facts and resort to spreading outright falsehoods.
He appealed to journalists, urging them to adopt a practice of cross-checking information when in doubt to ensure they do not inadvertently embarrass or mislead people.
