Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has taken a bold stance in support of the Federal Government’s ₦8,000 palliative, which has been a subject of widespread controversy among the public.
He said the palliative is a crucial tool to alleviate the suffering of economically disadvantaged Nigerians and those affected by the removal of fuel subsidies.
Governor Abdullahi Sule, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, passionately described the Federal Government’s N8,000 palliative as a substantial lifeline for impoverished families in the country, as they are not accustomed to receiving such a noteworthy amount monthly.
Governor Abdullahi Sule harked back to the time when N5,000 palliatives were provided, stressing that it played a great role in supporting individuals who relied on that amount every month.

Furthermore, he revealed how certain communities proactively pooled resources, achieving substantial positive changes within their own localities.
He said, ‘We were sharing only N5,000 and believe me there were so many people that were waiting for that N5,000 every month. Indeed, there were some communities that were able to do some kind of contributions and they were able to do a lot in their various communities.’
‘So, N8,000 may not be so much money to some people, but it is a lot to so many other people who are from very poor families that don’t see N8,000 every month. So, the only thing is that let us identify those families.’
The debate over the N8,000 palliative remains a contentious issue in the public domain.
While some argue that it falls short of meeting the pressing needs of economically disadvantaged Nigerians, others, like Governor Abdullahi Sule, see it as a meaningful intervention that can bring relief to those in dire circumstances.
As the discussion continues, it becomes crucial to identify the most vulnerable families who can benefit the most from this aid and ensure that the palliative reaches them effectively.
