Former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili, has insisted on an urgent response from Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, regarding a document circulating online regarding the controversial EndSARS protest.
The document circulating online alleges that during the October 2020 #EndSARS protest against police brutality, Sanwo-Olu approved the mass burial of 103 protesters who were purportedly killed by the joint forces of the Nigerian Army and the police.
The document, now viral online, came to light nearly three years after the government’s denial of brutal killings at the Lekki toll gate.
It alleges that the military opened fire on unarmed protesters, who were peacefully waving the Nigerian flag and singing the national anthem.
Via her verified Twitter handle, the former Minister took to the platform on Sunday to inquire if the Governor was cognizant of the State’s documented 103 deaths resulting from the EndSARS shootings. Her tweets demanded an urgent and transparent response.
In another statement, Ezekwesili went on to claim that the nation’s public leaders have stripped human life of all dignity, describing it as the most malicious act they have inflicted on the populace.

She further expressed her worry over the likelihood of a vast number of investigations that citizens would rightly expect proficient governments at all levels to undertake in the near future, which has made her to quiver at the thought of their magnitude.
She wrote, ‘Mr Governor of @followlasg , @jidesanwoolu , here is a document that has gone viral on social media, stating that your government procured services for mass burial of 103 corpses killed during the #EndSARS protest?’
‘Is this so?’
‘Mr Governor actually knew the State had a record of 103 dead bodies from the #EndSARS shootings?’
‘We need your urgent response.’
‘I often shudder at the sheer number of inquisitions that Citizens would in the good future expect sensible governments at Federal and State levels to launch all over this country.’
‘The wickedest thing Nigeria’s variant of public leaders have done to citizens is to reduce the dignity of human life to ZERO. They shall someday surely account… if not on earth… in heaven before the Creator of Life,’ Ezekwesili said.
She expressed strong disapproval of the alleged wicked incident, intentionally concealed from public awareness. She underlined that if the allegations were proven to be true, it would signify a fundamental failure of the government to fulfill its duty of serving and protecting the people, and a blatant infringing on their fundamental human rights.
