Over the weekend, in Tuomo community, Delta State, a suspected cultist murdered
a 20-year-old man named Sele-ebi Ware-ebi through multiple stabbing.
The heated altercation was triggered by a heated argument over Sele-ebi Ware-ebi’s choice of donning a red beret.
Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State, saw a sad event on Friday when Sele-ebi, a native of Torugbene, was killed while visiting the neighbouring Tuomo community.
Africa Today News, New York, reported that the cultist, after the tragic event, was tied together with the victim’s lifeless body before facing the wrath of an aggrieved mob from his community, a drastic step taken to prevent the situation from spiralling into a communal crisis.
Based on information from a source, the cultist purportedly demanded N5,000 from Sele-ebi for wearing the coloured beret associated with his cult. Upon Sele-ebi’s failure to meet the demand, the cultist reportedly pulled out a dagger and fatally stabbed him.

In his words, ‘A Tuomo man, who is alleged cultist, stopped a Torugbene man, who wore a beret. The cultist asked the Torugbene man why he put on this group’s beret.’
According to the source, the beret the victim wore was meant for church-related purposes before the cultist attack him.
‘Then the Tuomo man demanded N5,000 before he would let the Torugbene man go. The Torugbene man said he doesn’t have money. Then, the Tuomo man brought out a dagger and stabbed the Torugbene man to death.’
‘Tuomo community people then tied their son down and rushed the victim to hospital. Unfortunately, the man died. So, they tied their son with the dead body and was later beaten to death.’
