Chicago Court Throws Out Atiku’s Suit On Tinubu’s Records

A Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois County, United States of America, have struck out a lawsuit filed by a presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded Presidential elections, requesting President Bola Tinubu’s academic records from the Chicago State University.

Recall that, during the campaigns in 2022, Tinubu stated that he had a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with honours.

Despite Beverly Poindexter, who is in charge of official transcript requests, enrolment and degree verification at the Office of the Registrar, CSU, affirming Tinubu’s comment, some persons still had some doubts.

Africa Today News, New York recalls that recently, Atiku filed a suit, seeking to subpoena the university but was said to have, before the date of hearing, withdrawn the case before the court.

According to the Circuit Court papers dated July 31, which was sighted by Africa Today News, New York on Sunday, Judge Patrick J. Heneghan dismissed the case without prejudice.

In the judgment, the judge held that the ‘petitioner’s subpoena, in this case, is withdrawn and thus Chicago State University will not be deposed pursuant to the subpoena in this case.’

Ruling on the matter which had Atiku as the petitioner and CSU as the respondent, Justice Heneghan said the case was dismissed without prejudice and resolves all matters pending before the court.

Meanwhile, a business litigation attorney in Chicago who worked for President Tinubu, Mr Victor Henderson, has said citizens in the State of Illinois have known Tinubu for decades as a ‘distinguished graduate of Chicago State University and a well-respected international figure in the US.

In another report, Atiku had on Saturday, held a meeting with some governors elected on the platform of the party as well as other stakeholders of the party.

Africa Today News, New York gathered that the meeting was attended by the PDP vice presidential candidate Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa; acting National Chairman of the party, Umar Damagum; Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed; Delta State governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Fintiri and Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal.

Also in attendance were the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki; Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke; Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang; former Minister of External Affairs, Chief Tom Ikimi, amongst others.
