Afeez Oriyomi, a 44-year-old man, was brought before the Ikeja Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, facing charges of stealing 460 litres of diesel with an estimated value of N368,000.
Accused party Oriyomi, with an unmentioned place of residence, is up against a pair of charges: conspiracy and theft. His response has been a resolute not-guilty plea.
Insp. Funmi Akinleye, the prosecutor, disclosed that on July 28 in the Ikeja region of the state, the defendant collaborated with individuals who are currently evading capture, in a scheme to carry out the offence.
The court was apprised by Akinleye that the defendant illicitly appropriated 460 litres of diesel, having a value of N368,000, which constituted the property of Cent Door Limited.

It was conveyed by the prosecutor that these acts were in violation of the stipulations set forth within Sections 411, 280, and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, Nigeria, dated 2015.
The defendant was granted bail by the presiding magistrate, Mrs. Oyenike Fajana, in the amount of N100,000. Additionally, two sureties are necessary, both of whom should be employed and able to provide proof of tax payment to the Lagos State government for the past two years.
The case’s next mention has been set for August 29, as adjourned by Magistrate Fajana.
