The President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, has expressed his profound admiration for his Nigerian counterpart, President Bola Tinubu over his unwavering commitment to defending and preserving democracy and the rule of law in West Africa.
Biden commended Tinubu’s strong leadership as the chair of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) during their meeting on the sidelines of the just-concluded G20 Summit in New Delhi, India,
He also emphasised the crucial part he played in upholding democracy and stability in Niger and the surrounding area.

A statement on the White House official website which was sighted by Africa Today News, New York reads: ‘President Joe Biden met with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu today on the sidelines of the G20 in New Delhi, India to reinforce our enduring commitment to the U.S.-Nigeria relationship and to the longstanding friendship between our two countries and peoples.
‘President Biden welcomed the Tinubu Administration’s steps to reform Nigeria’s economy and thanked President Tinubu for his strong leadership as the chair of the Economic Community of West African States to defend and preserve democracy and the rule of law in Niger and the broader region.
‘Nigeria’s invitation to the G20 Summit is a recognition of Nigeria’s important global role as Africa’s largest democracy and economy.’
In another report, Tinubu’s engagements at the G-20 Summit took a significant turn as he advanced his economic diplomacy initiatives with three major counterparts, including Germany, South Korea, and India.
The President met with the Heads of State of three nations, which have been identified as key partners in his economic development diplomacy drive for local investment and wealth creation.
According to a statement by presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, for the Leader of Africa’s largest economy, a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of Europe’s largest economy, Germany, presented a unique opportunity to expand ties of prosperity for the people of Nigeria, but with a pragmatic approach toward ensuring the effective execution of agreements struck.
