The gubernatorial hopeful of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has directed his legal advisors to launch an appeal against the verdict rendered today by the governorship election tribunal, upholding Sheriff Oborevwori’s victory as Delta State’s governor.
Senator Omo-Agege pointed out that the Tribunal overlooked critical irregularities in the March 18, 2023, gubernatorial election, which fatally undermined the validity of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) victory declaration.
The Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, on Friday, dismissed Omo-Agege’s petition on the grounds of its lack of merit.
The judgment, delivered by Justice C. H. Ahuchaogu, who chaired the three-member tribunal, affirmed Oborevwori as the rightful winner of the March 18, 2023, gubernatorial election in the state.

Without delay, Omo-Agege responded by stating his intention to appeal the judgment.
Sunny Areh, Senator Omo-Agege’s Media Adviser, relayed that Omo-Agege respected the panel’s decision while highlighting what he saw as flaws within it.
The former Senate President said: ‘It is a no-brainer that the Tribunal operated under a very challenging environment.’
‘It therefore ignored the unassailable evidence adduced to question the validity of lawful votes as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.’
‘I respect the decision of the Tribunal, but it is flawed. I have no doubt that these flaws which the Tribunal failed to address will be dispassionately evaluated at the Court of Appeal.’
‘I have, therefore, directed my legal team to immediately proceed to the Court of Appeal and continue with the fight to restore the sanctity of the people’s vote,’ Senator Omo-Agege stated.
