Rishi Sunak, the Prime Minister of Britain, has made his way to Israel for an anticipated meeting with Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu.
Sunak is set to demand prompt delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza in light of the ongoing hostilities.
The British leader touched down in Il less than 24 hours following President Joe Biden’s visit, where a commitment of $100 billion was made.
Sunak’s visit was a part of the global leaders’ joint effort to prevent the extension of the Hamas conflict into the neighboring region.
‘I am in Israel, a nation in grief. I grieve with you and stand with you against the evil that is terrorism. Today, and always,’ Sunak posted on X this morning.

His itinerary includes a meeting with Netanyahu on Thursday, followed by visits to other regional capitals, where he will express condolences for the civilian casualties in the ongoing war.
Every civilian death is a tragedy, ‘the prime minister said ahead of the trip. ‘And too many lives have been lost following Hamas’s horrific act of terror.’
Earlier this week, there were indications that Sunak was preparing for his first visit to Israel, although he only confirmed his travel arrangements on Wednesday evening.
Foreign Secretary James Cleverly has planned meetings with leaders in Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar in the upcoming days, aiming to garner assistance for a peaceful settlement in Israel and Gaza.
The foreign secretary will advocate for a deal concerning humanitarian access to Gaza, as well as the liberation of British hostages currently held by Hamas.
